William Hill Trophy Handicap Results

The William Hill Trophy Handicap Chase is always a stamina test with a big field of 24 going to post this year with The Package and Bensalem vying for favoritism as the race went to post. As they set off it was Joe Lively and Comply Or Die who were setting the pace with the two favourites happy at the back of the field and biding their time.

The first fallers were Exmoor Ranger, Casey Jones and Knowhere half way round the first circuit to deplete the field which was still being led by 2008 Grand National winner Comply or Die and Joe Lively with Niche Market also looking handy. It was Niche Market who took up the running with Ogee also challenging while Bensalem fell a few from home to allow Chief Dan George and Ogee to take up the running coming to the last fence with The Package finishing like a steam train. Ogee faded slightly to leave Chief Dan George in front and he took the win from The Package who needed another ten yards and looked to be staying all day. It was not enough though as Chief Dan George got up to claim the win at a long price to leave the bookamakers laughing yet again today.
