The Cotswold Chase is more commonly known as the Argento chase at the moment under its current sponsorship and it serves as an excellent trial race for the Cheltenham Gold Cup. The Argento takes place on Cheltenham Trials day at the end of January and is run over the same course as the Gold Cup so trainers can find out how a horse deals with Cheltenham before sending them to the Festival just a few weeks later in March.
One of the most notable winners of this race was See More Business who won the race twice during his career, he was also a Gold Cup winner albeit not in the same season. We are likely to see one or two nice Gold Cup contenders take in the Argento this season before going to the Gold Cup and it will be one that punters will not want to miss.
