Cheltenham Triumph Hurdle 2007
The final day of the Cheltenham Festival gets underway with the grade one Triumph Hurdle. The race normally attracts a large field and the two mile one furlong race often resembles little more than a cavalry charge. As a novice event many inexperienced horses are likely to participate and those not used to running in large fields are probably best left well alone. It is difficult to provide a Cheltenham Tip in this race as it can be a bit of a lottery and one needs a lot of luck in running.| Cheltenham Festival Odds - Day Four Friday | ||

The Triumph Hurdle favourite Franchoek was well backed in the ring prior to the start and went off the shortest priced favourite of the week so far. Beau Michael too it up early with Celestial Halo taking them out into the country followed by Franchoek with a bunching pack. Celestial Halo led up the hill with Franchoek right on his tail and they went head to head all the way to the last where Celestial Halo asserted and Franchoek could not peg him back.

They as usual set off at a furious pace with Degas Art taking them along from Mountain ridden by the luckless Tony McCoy at this year's festival. The principles all made sure they were up with the pace, with Mountain tracking the leader and Lounaos right there. Punjabi took it up coming down the hill but Katchit loomed up to take it up coming into the straight and sped clear from Liberate and Mobaasher. Another victory for the Alan King team who has now saddled three winners at this year's festival.1. Katchit (Robert Thornton)11-2

3. Mobaasher (Noel Fehily) 33-1

The first year in which the safety limit was reduced, but a nasty incident still in the early stages when Wild Passion, who looked among the nicest in the field, fell and brought down Tarque and Major Speculation.Made In Japan had his ground and travelled well. He was going conspicuously easily starting down the hill, and after challenging going to the last, where he was inclined to wander a little, he proved the strongest in a driving finish. Chief Yeoman has looked a much better horse since switched to hurdles and had been running well without capturing the imagination. Top Strategy looked relatively exposed but did best of the Irish challengers and ran a blinder, making headway to travel well on the heels of the winner at the top of the hill and seeing the finish out well.
